Jockey wheels

(48 products)

A caravan jockey wheel is an essential mechanical device that can manoeuvre and support the front of your caravan or trailer. It does this by lifting or lowering your caravan when not mounted on the tow ball. It simplifies the process of coupling and uncoupling the trailer from your car, enabling you to move the trailer with minimal effort. Caravan jockey wheels are crucial for keeping your caravan or trailer level and steady, ensuring safety and stability. This is particularly important when the trailer or caravan is disconnected from the towing car. Investing in a quality jockey wheel enhances your caravaning experience, greatly limiting the physical effort required. This makes it a great solution regardless of your level of strength, making your travels more enjoyable.

Clip & Choosing the Right Jockey Wheel for Your Caravan or Trailer

Jockey wheels for caravans are either electric (powered by electricity) or hydraulic (able to convert into a hydraulic jack). They have pneumatic tyres that are filled with air (suitable for loose ground such as gravel) or solid tyres made of nylon or rubber (suitable for solid ground such as bitumen and concrete). There are also different types of jockey wheels available.

Heavy-duty jockey wheels for caravans – These are intended for navigating demanding terrains and tight spaces, especially when supporting extra-large caravans.

Dual wheel jockey wheels– These have two wheels, which offer greater stability and control, especially when maneuvering larger loads over rough terrains.

Adjustable height jockey wheels – Offer flexibility for caravans and vehicles with varying height towing setups.

Swing-up jockey wheels – feature a swivel mount that securely folds up when on the road.

How Does a Caravan Jockey Wheel Work?

The caravan jockey wheel works as follows: It is connected to a bracket located on the A-frame of the caravan, close to the hitch. When you need to manoeuvre your caravan, simply lower the jockey wheel until it touches the ground. The jockey wheel will be able to freely rotate, allowing for easier movement.
